September 15th, 2011

We went over the Lexington battle, and we were shown a video of Sarah Palin getting history facts wrong. It was pretty funny, and Mrs. Ilie told us that we needed to learn history so that that wouldn't happen to us if we were in that situation. We talked about what led up to the colonies fighting against the British, and we watched a video on it. The video we watched was really interesting, because it gave us a visual of how the battle went down. It was also intriguing and thought-provoking. Something that could be improved is more partner activities or class activities, and maybe some class discussions. I think it would be helpful to the understanding of the theories behind the wars.

  1. I agree that the video was interesting. It gave me a much better understanding of went on in those few battles further than just reading the book or doing notes.

  2. I thought that the video of Sarah Palin was pretty funny too. I also liked the video on the colonies we watched because it helped me to understand the background to the battle. I think having in-class discussions would be something that would bring good conversation to the class.

  3. Daniel, that's a good point about discussion. I think some of the best classes I've had with you guys is when you as a class were responding to a question and had different ideas about what the answer/reason might have been... :) I'll keep that in mind.

  5. I think that more class discussions where we can all add our own opinion is really helpful. It helps me get more involved and get in the mind of what everybody was thinking during the events.

  7. I also liked the video of Sarah Palin messing up because it was funny.
Now I know that if I mess up easy history facts in public, people will look at me and think that I'm an idiot, therefore it is good to learn US history with Ms. Illie so we don't mess up in the future.

  9. I think the video gave me a better understanding of what went on. Also, I agree with Lisa on having more class discussions, that way I can learn the material even better.

  10. I think that I'm more of a visual learner so the videos were very helpful but also having class or small group discussions is good as well. By the way Erica spelled Britain wrong.
